Aufgaben As a Senior Portfolio Architect you are responsible for the common Vital Trackside portfolio architecture (building blocks and concepts), technical choices and necessary portfolio evolutions as well as to ensure adherence to railway standards. Moreover you would act as a Product Line Architect (PLA) for the Vital Trackside product line families.

It also involves the following tasks:
  • Acting as the technical leader for the Vital Trackside product portfolio following our technical strategy, with focus on ETCS Trackside and Control Command Signalling products
  • Analyzing the common portfolio needs and operational concepts for Vital Trackside products in coordination with the Product Line Manager (PLM) and developing innovative technical concepts and guidelines for common building blocks of the Vital Trackside product portfolio
  • Ensuring the evolution of Mainline Signaling Vital Trackside core products towards standard compliance, competitiveness and common building blocks and arbitrating the technical product strategy of the portfolio with stakeholders (PLMs/PLAs)
  • Evaluating technical solution alternatives for building blocks based on cost, technical risk, impact on competitiveness and implementation roadmap
  • Managing the technical analysis of standardization activities in the frame of the System Pillar of the ERJU (European Rail Joint Undertaking)
  • Coordinating with network of responsible Thales product experts
  • Analyzing the impact to product portfolio and deriving technical strategy
  • Supporting feedback from Thales into the European Standardization bodies by representing Thales in working groups of standardization bodies
  • Participating in decision reviews and development milestones to ensure adherence of product development according to technical strategy of the product portfolio

  • Degree in technical studies (preferably railway signaling, information technology or computer science)
  • Profound experience in technical analysis and description of complex systems based on responsibility in similar roles such as Product Line Architect, System Architect or Project Design Authority
  • Previous responsibility with direct contact to customers
  • Very good knowledge of railway operation products and technical solutions
  • Strong background with different system architectures on international markets and knowledge of functional variability of international Railway Signalling Systems (ERTMS/ETCS, Interlocking)
  • Strong knowledge of requirements engineering and system modeling (MBSE, Doors, modeling tools)
  • Experience in working with railway standardization bodies
  • Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills
  • Excellent communication skills in English
  • Innovation- and strategy-oriented mind-set
