Aufgaben As an Organisation Configuration Manager you will be responsible for the definition, implementation and sustainment of configuration management at all levels of the product lifecycle.

It also involves the following tasks:
  • Managing, leading, developing, supporting and advising Configuration Management teams and resources (functional):
    • Taking in charge configuration management related budget, workload allocation and organizational modes
    • Ensuring the proper deployment of the strategy and the application of the referential previously defined by the Configuration Management Committee
    • Supporting the development of the team members and the configuration management population at the right level of knowledge and skills
    • Onboarding the new comers in the discipline
    • Proposing and developing certification approach, learning paths, anticipation and skills management
    • Supporting, developing and promoting the discipline within the concerned perimeter (operations, top management)
    • Leading the coordination with the operational disciplines: B&PM, Engineering, Supply Chain, Customer Service
    • Favoring the development of expertise and maturity of the domain (KPI) and implementing re-use, capitalisation and cost model policy
    • Favoring innovation, new products, continuous improvement, performance initiatives through the investigation of new contexts, benchmarks and solutions
    • Solving complex problems and implementing corrective actions plan relative to the configuration management activities

  • Being an active key player to support and ramp up a new discipline within the Thales community world wide
  • For Main Line Signalling (MLS) Germany:
    • Improving and deploying the configuration management system for MLS Germany
    • Establishing and maintaining the organization and rules of data and configuration management under consideration of the existing rules of our managements system
    • Identifying the specific needs of the organization according to its activities and constraints over the whole product lifecycle
    • Defining configuration management metrics and KPIs (Key Performance Indicators)
    • Identifying the procedures for verification and application of the process
    • Establishing and maintaining appropriate configuration management resources
    • Working closely with all disciplines and supporting members in all areas in the use of tools and processes
    • Performing change control and configuration audits

  • You graduated with a bachelor or master’s degree in Engineering or Computer Science and you have significant experience in transversal management, team and project management
  • You have great knowledge of system, hardware and software integration principles
  • You are able to apply configuration management on hardware, software and documents
  • You are able to use configuration management tools (PLM/PDM)
  • You have knowledge of lean management and agile culture
  • You have outstanding problem-solving skills and a passion to solve hard problems
  • You are a team player and enjoy collaborative work
  • You are a self-motivated leader, willing to engage other peers using collaborative work and challenging approaches
  • Professional experience with process modelling and documentation management will be an advantage
  • Certification as a configuration manager (CMII or equivalent) will be an advantage
  • You have knowledge of software configuration management practices and tools
  • You are business fluent in German and English
